So, two weekends ago Jo-Ann was having a sell with 25% off every skein of yarn in the store. In addition to that awesome sell, it was also teacher appreciation days which got me an additional 20% off!!!! Obviously, I couldn’t pass up a sell like that so even though my office/craft room was already overflowing with yarn waiting to be turned into something beautiful, I picked out a few projects for Christmas presents and headed to Jo-Ann. When I got home, I told my husband to close his eyes and he informed me he had already prepared himself — he knows me so well! 🙂
So I came in with my three giant bags.
They were holding all of these beauties:
So what am I doing with all this yarn?
This batch of Red Heart Super Saver has 4 skeins of Gray Heather, 3 Spring Green, 1 Soft White, and 1 Bright Yellow is going to be used to make a Roadway Blanket for my little cousin. He is ALL 4 year old little boy. He loves anything with wheels so I’m super excited to make him a blanket he can cuddle and play with. The pattern came from Red Heart: Roadway Throw Crochet Blanket.
The pattern does call for Gold instead of Bright Yellow, but Jo-Ann was all out of Gold so I think the yellow I picked up will be just fine if I don’t already have some gold hiding somewhere in my stash.
This batch of Caron Simply Soft is not for Christmas, but for a baby blanket and hat for my nephew who will be here in February. The pattern came from the ladies over at The Firefly Hook.
They used sport weight yarn, but unfortunately everything in the Jo-Ann sport weight section was pastel, and I really loved the color combination. So instead I picked up some Caron Simply Soft in the closest colors I could find. I can’t wait to try out this pattern.
Both of these batches are for presents for my husband. The best part is he has NO IDEA I’m working on anything for him — or rather that I will be working on something for him. 🙂
The first picture with the Caron Simply Soft is to make a bean bag cover. This is another Red Heart pattern for an Argyle Bean Bag Cover.
Obviously, Red Heart calls for their own brand of soft yarn for this project, but I really preferred the purple and gold available from Caron so I used the Caron Simply Soft again. I’m going to do my husband’s in charcoal, purple, and gold to go in his LSU themed man cave. He currently has a rough looking bean bag chair in the man cave. He’s had he chair since he was in high school or maybe middle school and it could use a new, more mature look. I think he’s going to love it!
For the other stack of charcoal, I’m going to make my husband a blanket of his very own. I thought the charcoal would be very masculine and I really like the pattern I found on CraftGawker.com. Since I already have a huge stash of colors, I only bought the charcoal I needed for his blanket.
Well that’s it for this haul! I’ll post pictures of finished projects as I get there.
